Help build the software the province runs on

The Eastern Province is building shared software its institutions will use, and building it in the open. Students and working professionals are invited to help.

Real work, not exercises. The systems provincial institutions will use every day, built in the open.
Experience that counts. Production systems, code review, and the habits that come with software other people depend on.
Learn the current stack. Go, TypeScript and React, PostgreSQL, Docker, single sign-on, APIs and AI services — on real problems rather than tutorials.
Work people can see. The code is public, so what you build stays yours to show.
Guidance, not a desk alone. You work alongside others and your work is reviewed, which is how it gets better.
A written record. Confirmation of what you contributed, and credit in the software itself.
Where and when. Provincial government institutions, during government office hours, for a term of up to six months.

What we do with what you enter here

The Office of the Chief Secretary, Eastern Province, collects this information for one purpose: to run the province's volunteer software community — to know who has offered to help, what they can do, when they are free, and to contact them about it.

Who sees it. The officer maintaining the community, and no one else. It is not published, not shared with other institutions, and not used for recruitment to any post.

How long we keep it. Twelve months from your last contact with us, after which it is deleted unless you ask us to keep it.

Your choices. Write to hello@rumeasiyan.com and we will correct anything wrong, or delete your entry entirely. Volunteering is voluntary in both directions: you may stop at any time, and nothing follows from it.
